How to Use Perseverance-When Life Rocks Us

Whitney

Have you ever had life knock you so far down you become paralyzed? It feels hard to move. Your breath deepens, and you wonder your reason here on earth. Your surroundings cave in making every moment feel meaningless. The lost keys, chaos, and stabbing words from others cause you to rethink your motives.

Why am I here?

I can’t live another day feeling the pain of this world.

No one would notice if I’m gone.

This hurts too much.

I have felt the pain of others and in my own life cave in on my existence. I have felt every effort of some force trying to crack and break me down, to the point my soul can’t even be lifted.

Maybe you are in this spot today. Where your hopes and dreams have already disappeared. Persevering through all the mess feels tiresome and pointless.

Maybe it’s all the small things adding up.

Making you feel on edge and slowly defeated

Bringing you to believe it’s easier to give up on your true intentions

What is the first thing to slip when we feel the world weighing us down?

I don’t know about you, but for me, it’s the things that make me feel life is worth living. The things and people making me feel love and purpose.

Do you understand the pattern?

Do you feel the force we are battling?

It’s the reason we need to persevere.

These lies we hear and feel are the invisible battle no one sees or hears about.

It’s the foothold of someone who hates us.

He despises our feelings of joy and happiness.

We Are In A War For Our Soul.

The key to keeping us thriving lies with what crushes us first. It’s easy to let these lies soak our minds. But I’m here to remind you to keep moving forward. Not because I already know the way, but because I know it’s going to be worth it.

Why We Need to Use Perseverance:

I don’t want anyone to have a foothold in my life. Honestly, I want to shake Satan to the ground and see him grind his teeth with each step I make to move forward. I want to feel his loss with my will to keep going, even if the step I take is small.

The truth is we matter. We are here today because we have a purpose. I can’t promise you that you won’t get hurt. I won’t promise you that you won’t grieve, or that all your hopes and dream will come true.

But, I can promise you that there’s a God who loves YOU.

He will fight for you, even if it is only for YOU. He gave up his only son so that WE won’t hurt forever. He’s with YOU even when you can’t feel his presence.

God Loves you-2016

I don’t know about you, but knowing this makes me want to fight.

It makes me want to fight for who I am, and who I was created to be.

Perseverance is our weapon to survive.

To fight for what we believe in.

And to figure out who we are called to be.

To get us to the side of God’s victory.
Here are 9 ways to persevere through our day. We should equip ourselves with these every day, not just occasionally. We never know what the day ahead of us will look like, but if we are prepared we will be standing on a sturdy foundation. We can do this!

How to Use Perseverance as a Weapon

Persevere Daily Weapon

1.Pray:

Prayer is the most powerful way to fight our battles. We don’t have to be great in prayer to pray. God wants to listen to any words spoken to him, even if it’s tears and silence. He already knows what is in our heart, so we can be open with him in joy, anger, and sadness.

In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help.

From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.

Psalm 18:6

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

Jeremiah 29:12

2.Embrace His Presence:

Invite God’s presence into your life. We tend to block Him out when we need him the most, but He is the core of our strength and he lights our path when we are lost.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:13

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Exodus 33:14

3. Remember His Love:

When we feel broken and defeated, we need to feel loved. God loves us more than anyone. Remembering this can help us keep going.

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.

He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you,

but will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

4. Send Our Worries to Him:

Casting our worries to God can lift our soul from the battles we face. We can’t control what happens, and when we let Him take the wheel we are trusting His plan for us.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you

and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

5.Eliminate Fear:

This is so hard for me, but we don’t have to be afraid! Letting fear lead our lives lets Satan get his lies into our head. Instead, we should rest in the thought of God always being with us.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

6.Victory is Within You:

God’s spirit is within us. We can be reassured that God is with us always. He will fight our battles if we let Him.

Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?

1 Corinthians 3:19

7.Embrace His Grace:

This says it all!

Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me,

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses,

so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:8-9

8.Read His Word:

His word helps us from sinning, strengthens us, comforts us, teaches us knowledge and good judgment, makes us wiser than our enemies, it’s the lamp to our feet and light to our path,  it redeems us, and preserves our life according to his purpose.

Psalm 119: 11,28,52,66, 98, 105, 154

9. Focus Our Eyes on the Lord:

For me focusing my eyes on who created me and died for me, gives me an abundance of energy to fight for who I am. It can remind us of our purpose and give us peace in the midst of life.

2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of faith.

For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame,

and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2
